Oiling hair to resolve scalp issues and boost hair growth is a tip shared with us by many people. However, not everyone has the same hair texture and scalp, so there are a few things to consider while giving yourself an oil massage.
Different types of oils have their own functions to help us out with our hair troubles. Keep in mind that oiling hair does help but it is not the only cure.
If you have dandruff due to overactive sebaceous glands, oiling may not help as it will block your pores, preventing the moisture from entering the scalp and causing more dandruff. Oiling can work if the scalp is dry and causes dandruff.
Oils help with the hair quality, but they do not give guarantee for faster or thicker hair growth. Coconut oil (no need for any other things to mix it with, warm it up and apply to the roots and length), castor oil(the extracted oil is sticky so might be harder to wash it off so make sure to do a few repeat rinses), olive oil(using once a fortnight. To condition the hair, and olive oil hair mask with 1 tsp honey, 2 tsp olive oil applying it on the length. Wrap it up in a hot towel for 30 minutes, rinse it thoroughly with lukewarm water), and Argan oil (rich in vitamin E) are some oils you can use to make your hair healthier.
Rice water promotes hair growth while nourishing the scalp. It also improves the elasticity of the hair and smoothens the hair cuticles. It is a home remedy protein treatment that will strengthen your hair and reduce breakage. Use it a few times to avoid protein overload.
To prepare rice water, you will need ½ cup of clean rice, 2-3 cups of water, and 5-10 drops of essential oils. You can also use orange peel instead of essential oils.
Place the rice in a container and add the water, stir it well. Cover and leave the rice water to sit at room temperature for 1-2 days. Strain the rice and add the essential oils (or orange peel) to it. Keep it for one hour. You can apply the rice water from a spray bottle. Rinse it with lukewarm water.
You can also use the rice water to make a scalp treatment mask by adding green tea, 2 tbsp of coconut oil and applying the paste-like mixture to the scalp using a cotton ball.
