Excimer Laser-br

Excimer Laser Treatment has shown promising results in treating Alopecia Areata (AA) hair loss conditions. Laser therapy is also suitable for people with pre-existing medical conditions for whom corticosteroids and immunosuppressants cannot be prescribed easily. In excimer laser therapy, the doctor sends a targeted beam of long-wave UVB light to the bald areas and the laser later promotes hair growth in those regions. The exact relationship between excimer lasers and hair regrowth is not known. However, repeated studies have shown that 60-77% of patients treated with lasers redevelop hair strands in the affected areas with many reporting 100% hair regrowth.

About Excimer
Laser Treatment

AA is an autoimmune disease that leads to the inflammation of hair follicles. An excimer laser can target both these underlying causes and promote hair regeneration in a matter of months.

The side effects of corticosteroids and immunosuppressants are pronounced. Weakening the body’s overall defense system makes you prone to infections. But excimer laser treatment only treats the targeted area and does not affect your overall immune system. The therapy has almost no long-term side effects. The short-term ones are manageable and treatable. It is also fast, safe for almost everyone, and delivers promising results.

However, excimer laser treatment cannot be used on people with advanced AA disorders. Since the UVB light is focused, you can reach small areas of the scalp. If AA has already caused total baldness, you might need other forms of therapy. Excimer laser exposure is also not suggested to people with a family history of cancer, sun sensitivity, or someone suffering from lupus. Beyond these, almost anyone can undergo the procedure.

At HairMD, you are assured of effective and unmatched treatment. We boast a success rate of 98.32% and with over 1 lakh satisfied patients so far, we are positioned as one of India’s top skin and hair clinics. Through years of research and clinical studies, we have come up with the best solutions to all skin and hair problems.

We are known for our ethical practice, along with consistent follow-up with our patients. We are backed by a renowned transplant surgeon and dermatologist with 28 years of experience.

An excimer laser machine uses xenon and chloride to send a laser light of 308 nm in wavelength. The exposure is known to treat skin inflammations and promote the production of healthy cells. Both these properties led experts to extend the excimer laser technology to treat AA hair loss symptoms and the results were reassuring.

You will need to visit a dermatologist’s office to receive an excimer laser therapy. The radiation exposure will last for a few seconds and you can leave right after. Generally, you might need a total of 4 to 10 sessions spanning over 2 to 5 weeks.

OUR RESULTS
ARE THE GOLD STANDARD

“Hi, I am a 40 year old male who has been suffering from pattern baldness since my 30s. Due to various responsibilities like career, family, children, loans etc. I was not able to treat my hair loss. I just ignored it. However, more and more people started commenting about my baldness and it was a source of major insecurity. Finally, I was researching on Youtube and came across Dr Dhananjay Chavan's video about the topic, he seemed very knowledgeable and I knew that I had to consult with him. I am very happy about my transplant results and glad that I took this step.”

FAQs
About Excimer Laser Treatment

When carried out by a specialist doctor expertly trained to use the excimer laser, an excimer laser procedure is completely safe. The doctor controls the amount of radiation that reaches you, time of exposure, and a host of other factors.

What are its side effects?

The immediate side effects of excimer laser therapy include:

  • Skin irritation on the treated area – burning, itching, and redness
  • Hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation – in some rare cases, lightening or darkening of the skin is observed on the treated area
  • Skin blistering and scarring

Skin irritation and blistering are temporary. Hypo- and hyperpigmentation also tends to fade with time. With proper post-therapy treatment, the other side effects are controllable as well. To date, there are no known long-term side effects of excimer laser therapy unless you have a known history of cancer in your family.

Just like other prescribed treatments for AGA and AA, excimer laser treatment only delivers immediate results. But your hair loss condition can come back because the underlying AA and AGA diseases are not completely curable. With excimer laser therapy, you get efficient results with minimal side effects. Hair grows back and stays as long as AGA or AA is not active. But if disorders return, you will need another session of the therapy to treat hair loss.

Following the excimer laser treatment, you will need 21 days to completely recover from the therapy. Hair growth will begin depending on your body’s natural rate of healing and it usually takes somewhere between 6 months to 1 year to see results, depending on the severity of baldness. You will need one session every five to seven days and the number of sessions will also depend on your scalp’s existing condition. However, expect faster results than any other form of hair loss treatment.

This will depend on the number of sittings you need. Contact us to know exactly what you require and we can help you get an estimate.
