Scalp Chemical Peel

Phenol Peel is a commonly used treatment for a common hair loss condition called Alopecia Areata. The autoimmune disorder affects millions of people around the world where you start losing coin-shaped patches of hair from your scalp without any specific reason. Phenol, an aromatic hydrocarbon, has the desired properties to treat the underlying condition causing Alopecia Areata and can return your scalp to normal conditions within a year of continuous treatment, leading to hair regrowth in the bald patches. Compared to the other forms of treatments available for Alopecia Areata phenol chemical peel is relatively safe and you can start seeing results faster.

Benefits of Phenol Peel For Alopecia

A phenol peel for alopecia is a relatively safe treatment for alopecia areata.

Scarring Alopecia is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the hair follicles and kills them. Since chemical phenol peel has the ability to reduce inflammation, the hair follicles return to their healthier state and start regenerating new hair strands. Thus, chemical phenol peel is helpful for hair regrowth.

Phenol
Chemical Peel Treatment

Phenol Chemical peel has always been used as an antiseptic agent as it is excellent in treating bacterial and fungal infections due to its anti-inflammatory properties. And Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune condition in which hair loss happens due to the inflammation of the underlying hair follicles in response to the body’s immune system. In AA, your body’s natural defense system or the white blood cells attack the hair follicles. They get inflamed and do not regenerate new hair strands. After natural hair loss, the inflamed follicles remain in their dormant state and you end up with patchy bald spots.

The doctor brushes phenol directly on the affected area and waits for the skin to frost. Depending on the concentration of the phenol, the substance penetrates the depths of your skin and exfoliates the inflamed cells so that the body’s healing mechanism can take over later.

On the day of the procedure, the expert will cleanse and prep your bald scalp first before brushing the phenol on the same. Once done, the phenol solution applied will be neutralized and removed and you will have to use an ointment to prevent further infections and as a soothing agent. You may also have to use a bandage cover to protect the area from sun damage or any other external irritation. Complete healing from one chemical phenol peel sitting may take up to 3 months and the results of the treatment will start appearing after 6 months of the first sitting.

OUR RESULTS
ARE THE GOLD STANDARD

“Hi, I am a 40 year old male who has been suffering from pattern baldness since my 30s. Due to various responsibilities like career, family, children, loans etc. I was not able to treat my hair loss. I just ignored it. However, more and more people started commenting about my baldness and it was a source of major insecurity. Finally, I was researching on Youtube and came across Dr Dhananjay Chavan's video about the topic, he seemed very knowledgeable and I knew that I had to consult with him. I am very happy about my transplant results and glad that I took this step.”

FAQs
About Phenol Peel

No, there are many other suggested treatments for Alopecia Areata but a few of them are long-term and involve risky side effects. But this also leaves you prone to frequent bacterial and viral infections as the defense mechanisms are down. Phenol peel treatment does not suppress the immune system. It treats the hair follicle inflammation directly and helps you achieve similar results.

Phenol peel side effects include:

  • Skin blistering as a result of the treatment
  • Hypopigmentation of the region, or uneven skin tone
  • Contact dermatitis
  • Burning, pain and irritation
  • local infection
  • Scarring
  • Most of these side effects are preventable. Experienced doctors will keep you on antibiotics and antivirals to prevent local infections and your medical history will help rule out contact dermatitis. You will have ointments to take care of the burn and pain and hypopigmentation will generally heal with time.

No, you can come in on the day of the phenol chemical peel treatment and leave just after. However, you will have to take extreme care for at least 14 days after the treatment to help your recovery process. You have to stay at home, avoid going out, and stay protected as much as possible.

Alopecia Areata might return in different phases of your life. And phenol peel treatment can help every time. The procedure treats the underlying condition causing hair loss but there is no known permanent treatment yet for Alopecia Areata. However, with phenol peel, you do not have to continuously live with Alopecia Areata.

The cost depends on the extent that Alopecia Areata has spread, the number of sittings you need, and a few other factors. Consult with us to get an estimate.
